Your Role

Through this unit you explored the role you are targeting, and improved your understanding of it. You explored the skills you’ll need to impress prospective employers and where your future career path is likely to take you. Alongside this, you gained insight into the industry and got the opportunity to speak to an expert in the field - 👏🏼 you did a lot.

Module Overview

Module 1 | My Role, My Skills

What was awesome 👏🏼

Completed the skills check realistically and quickly. Well done. You then converted these into clear strengths and weaknesses aligned to yourself and the role, outlining opportunities to address this. A plan was developed off the back of this

What would of made it even more awesome 🚀

Planning how the weaknesses would be addressed would have been improved by more tangible actions that would increase awareness of the role. Plan developed has no defined time by which targets would be achieved, and they are a little limited in their content.

Module 2 | My Future Self

What was awesome 👏🏼

You reviewed and researched information and were able to answer all questions on the survey effectively.

What would of made it even more awesome 🚀

If I was to improve anything, I think your final statement requires a clearer and more confident statement about where your career path is heading - is it into a position of leadership or into an area of greater technical expertise. After talking to Chelzea, are you in a better place to know this? For example you originally wrote -

“Hopefully working as an accountant for an accountant firm or small business and preferably in Brighton”

Is there anything else you would add to make it sound more ambitious and focused?

Improvement on this module could also be improved by researching the types of qualifications you feel could make the difference in the role, or what qualifications you might study on the apprenticeship. Did Chelzea talk about this? Would you like some help to work this out - let me know.

Module 3 | My Chosen Industry

What was awesome 👏🏼

Good job crafting the email to Chelzea. I was really pleased with the content and tone of the email.

Also, I’m really pleased that you pushed on and had a go at talking to Chelzea - she loved talking to you. This took courage. Well done. You came across clearly and professionally. You completed the call in timely fashion and your learning from the call was well reviewed. You still seem focused on the career path - great news.

What would of made it even more awesome 🚀

I think you need to ensure that you think carefully before communicating in written form. It took quite a lot of revisions to get that email right, and I think that this could be something that halts you potentially. I’m happy to read through cover letters/communications to employers ahead of time, but equally you should check yourself for grammatical errors, tone and layout - make sure you read the email through before you send it as a rule - you don’t want this letting you down

Summative Feedback

Really impressed with your application to the tasks you’ve completed so far. You’ve really impressed me in your determination to push through this process and find the right apprenticeship. You’re super-focused on the apprenticeship you wish to move into, and have learned a lot from this unit.

In development there are a couple of areas that stand out. Firstly, you need to be careful in your creation of written communication to people. That was clear from the email sent to Chelzea. Additionally another area of growth is in your self-confidence. Through consistently pushing through this programme this will improve as you become more used to speaking about yourself to employers. I’m hoping familiarity will lead to gains in this area as you become more used to this.

Finally, we need to confirm the qualifications required for the apprenticeship route you’ve selected. I’ll confirm this later, but overall well deserving of the grade and I hope you push onto the next unit and take as much from that unit as you have from this.

Well done.
